Zalmon Simmons

Zalmon Simmons arrived in Manitou Springs to check on one of his inventions.  An insulators for telegraph wires.  It was hoped that the insulators would make telegraph messages more reliable.  His insulator did make improvements, but something else continues to plague the telegraph system almost maliciously altering messages that are transmitted from one end to the other.

Zalmon was awed by the view from the top of Pike's Peak.  The journey currently takes two days by donkey.  Zalmon wanted everyone to enjoy the view but was determined to find a quicker way to the top.  Resting in one of the Hot Springs in Manitou Springs, he struck upon the idea of a railway.  Zalmon immediately went in search of capital funding and The Pikes Peak Cog Railway Project was begun.  Zalmon is currently in Manitou Springs overseeing the construction of the railway.
